Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 1, 2026
Overview
CampSquad ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your family's privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We will never sell your personal data — period.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your name, email address, and password when you register.
- Family profiles: your children's first names, ages or grades, and activity preferences.
- Summer plan: camps and programs you add to your plan or watchlist.
- Friends: names and email addresses of friends you invite to your squad (only used to send the invitation).
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and actions taken (e.g., searches, clicks).
- Device data: browser type, operating system, and IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use your information
- Provide and improve the CampSquad service.
- Match your kids' summer plans with those of friends in your squad.
- Send notifications about camp overlaps, new programs, and registration reminders (you control these in your profile).
- Respond to your support requests.
- Detect and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do notuse your children's information for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
CampSquad accounts are for parents and guardians (age 18+).
We collect children's first names and grade levels only as part of a parent's family profile. We do not allow children under 13 to create their own accounts. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us at support@campsquad.app and we will delete it promptly.
We collect parental consent before storing any information about children. The first time you add a child to your family profile, we ask you to confirm you are the parent or legal guardian. We record the consent timestamp and your IP address as an audit trail, and we do not store child data without this acknowledgment.
CampSquad complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Sharing your information
We share your information only in these circumstances:
- Your squad: friends you invite can see which camps you've added to your plan, so overlaps can be shown. They cannot see your children's full profiles.
- Service providers: trusted vendors who help us operate CampSquad (e.g., Supabase for database hosting, Vercel for hosting). They are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- Business transfers: if CampSquad is acquired, we will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different policy.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Your rights
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: update inaccurate data in your profile settings.
- Deletion: delete your account and all associated data.
- Portability: request your data in a portable format.
- Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom, or email us.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database. No system is 100% secure; if you have concerns about your account, contact us immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
